Description

The Megger BK-30291 is a handheld micro-ohmmeter kit (MOM3) that is equipped with Kelvin clamps and a 3-meter cable set. This lightweight and durable instrument is designed for fieldwork, including measuring contact resistance and checking connections on high-voltage circuit breakers, busbar joints, and other critical electrical components.

Key features
  • High current output: The MOM3 uses ultracapacitors to deliver a test current of up to 300A, which is ideal for accurate measurements of very low resistance in high-current applications.
  • Auto-ranging: It features an automatic resistance range from 0.1 µΩ to 3000 mΩ, which ensures precise measurements without manual adjustments.
  • Short measurement time: The ultracapacitor technology allows for rapid, multiple tests in quick succession without heating up the test object. This also eliminates the need for bidirectional measurements commonly used in micro-ohm testing.
  • Portability: The unit is lightweight (1.15 kg) and battery-powered, making it easy to carry and use in the field. The kit includes a carrying strap and a soft carrying case.
  • Data storage: It can store over 2,000 test values, and data can be transferred to a PC via a USB-C cable.
  • Durability: The instrument is built with a rugged rubber body and is IP54 rated for protection against dust and splashing water.
  • Compliance: The MOM3 complies with IEEE and IEC standards.
  • Kelvin clamps: The BK-30291 kit includes a 1.3m red cable with a Kelvin clamp and a 3m black cable with a Kelvin clamp, which helps ensure high accuracy by eliminating the effect of lead resistance.
  • Applications: Common uses include testing circuit breakers, busbar joints, switches, and safety ground connections, as well as verifying low resistance in cables and fuses.
