Description

The HT Instruments M74 is a multifunction installation tester and digital multimeter (DMM), not a dedicated high-voltage insulation (Hi-Pot) tester. While it performs insulation resistance measurements up to 500VDC, which is a type of insulation test, a true "Hi-Pot" test typically involves much higher voltages to test dielectric strength. The M74 is suitable for electrical safety checks in residential and civil installations.

  • Insulation resistance: Measures insulation up to 500 VDC.
  • Continuity: Tests protective conductors with 200mA.
  • Earth resistance: Measures overall earth resistance without tripping Residual Current Devices (RCDs).
  • RCD test: Checks the tripping time for Type A and AC RCDs.
  • Autotest: A powerful feature that runs an automatic sequence of earthing, RCD, and insulation tests with a single button press.
  • Phase sequence: Indicates the rotating field and phase coincidence using a 1- or 2-wire method.
  • Leakage current: Can be measured using an optional external clamp.
